Animal Control

The City of Hercules encourages residents to be responsible pet owners. Pet ownership is a big commitment and one that should not be taken lightly. Being a responsible pet owner includes not only taking care of your own pet but also being considerate to your neighbors, local businesses, and the community.

Animal control and sheltering services are provided through an agreement with the Contra Costa County Animal Service Department. The department handles lost and found animals, licensing, adoptions and emergency pet services. In addition, they offer numerous field services such as investigating claims of animal cruelty, picking up injured animals, and impounding stray animals.
