Home MenuSchool Resource Officers
Hercules Police Department’s School Resource Division is made up of two officers and a sergeant. The two officers are stationed at Hercules Middle/High School (HMHS) where approximately 2,000+ students are enrolled and approximately 150+ school district employees work. Though the School Resource Officer (SRO) can be counted on to supplement street coverage, their primary mission is peace and order at HMHS. Hercules’ SROs work closely with school staff to actively intervene in student problems that might turn criminal. Minor disciplinary issues or offenses are still the responsibility of the principal, although the presence of a police officer does help to mitigate many issues that may have otherwise transpired. Recognizing that productive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and citizens are critical, SRO’s---through an open door policy---strive to truly be a resource to any and all seeking help, guidance, or advice.
SRO's Sanchez and Russell can often be seen “walking the beat” on school grounds and can be reached by e-mail at gsanchez@ci.hercules.ca.us and lrussell@ci.hercules.ca.us or by phone at (510) 799-8276.
