Status Update – May 24, 2023

On April 25, 2023, City Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $1,488,622 to R&S Construction, the low bidder on the project.  R&S is planning to break ground early June and have the project completed by the end of September.  Funding is being provided by grants from the Contra Costa Transportation Authority and Metropolitan Transportation Commission and cost-sharing with BART, who own and operate the Hercules Transit Center.

---------------------------------------------

The project will eliminate critical gaps in the City’s pedestrian network between the Hercules Transit Center and the south-east area of the City.  Sidewalk and streetlighting will be installed from the Hercules Transit Center along Willow Avenue to the Willow/Palm intersection, where it will tie into the existing sidewalk leading over State Route 4, and then along Palm Avenue where it will tie into the existing sidewalk on Sycamore Avenue.

Construction is anticipated to start Summer 2023.
