Home MenuLibrary Leak Repair Project #4
Project Status Update - March 25, 2024
Given the high price tag of $500K to permanently repair the leak, bids are being solicited to encapsulate any rusted metal, seal the cracks, and apply 2 coats of elastomeric paint. Once this work has been completed, the leak locations will be monitored and ideally this treatment will be effective for several years.
Project Status Update - December 19, 2023
The tests that SERA performed indicated that the stucco for the story cone needs to be replaced as well as the skylight and window. These repairs are substantial, with an estimated cost of approximately $500K. A contract to design the repair work is being negotiated and the repairs are anticipated to occur next Summer.

The City has hired SERA architects to determine the source of the leak in the Story Cone, which has been very challenging to locate. SERA initially performed an on-site inspection, reviewed the construction drawings for the building, and most recently performed a water test (see photo below). Once the results have been obtained the appropriate treatments will be made, ahead of the winter rains.
