Movie Night and Tree Replacement Pop-Up

Refugio_R1-01_Pop-upTree ReplacementJoin us for our FREE Friday Family Flix and Fun nights at Refugio Valley Park.  There is no charge for these events, just bring your lawn chair/blanket and your family/friends to Refugio Valley park and we’ll set up the inflatable screen for some movie fun for the community.  All movies will begin once it’s dark enough.  That is usually about 20 mins after sunset.  There will be a story walk of a children’s book that relates to and/or compliments the movie.  A food truck will also be available!

TREE REPLACEMENT:

While the original date for this movie was pushed back because of tree work being done in the park, this new date has additional significance as the city will be holding a pop-up event about the tree replacement and shade structures for Refugio Valley Park.  To participate in the process, please join us for the pop-up tree replacement event between 5:30-7:30pm.  Take a 4-minute survey to share your thoughts on how the City should plan for the use of shade trees and shade structures at Refugio Valley Park.  Your participation is greatly appreciated!

Sox on a Mission
Lightyear Movie

MOVIE INFO:

On Friday, September 15, 2023, we will be showing Lightyear. Sox on a Mission will be featured on the storywalk.

Lightyear is a story about the legendary space ranger known as Buzz Lightyear. Lightyear embarks on an intergalactic adventure alongside ambitious recruits Izzy, Mo, Darby, and his robot companion, Sox. As this motley crew tackles their toughest mission yet, they must learn to work together as a team to escape the evil Zurg and his dutiful robot army that are never far behind.

In addition, the Hercules Library is holding a Storywalk. The book chosen to compliment Lightyear is titled “SOX on a Mission” by Meredith Rusu. SOX on a Mission was inspired by Disney and Pixar's film Lightyear. This hardcover jacketed picture book captures the humor and antics of Buzz and his new friend in this story inspired by the film. Featuring beautiful artwork and packed with heart and humor.

Come read the story, stay for the movie and enjoy a free night out in the park with the Hercules Parks and Recreation Department. Bring your family, friends and/or your work team, and relax to a fun movie in the park. Bring a blanket or camping chair, and be sure to dress warm as the evenings can get chilly! We hope to see you there.
